Eco-Schools

What we do

There are 3 Eco-Schools award levels – Bronze, Silver and Green Flag. In Janaury 2017 we were very proud to gain the Silver Award. This award focussed on strengthening pupil leadership and whole school involvement.

Next year we are working towards the Green Flag. We will be completing in-depth work on at least 3 of the Eco-Schools 9 topics, one of which must be energy. We will
choose the topics dependent on the results of our Environmental Review that we will be carrying out soon.

Three children are chosen from each class in Key Stage 2 to raise awareness of environmental issues and to explore ways in which the school can become more environmentally friendly.

We meet once every half term to look at ways to improve our school and discuss any ways we can make our school more eco-friendly, such as: turning lights off when the classrooms are not in use and monitoring any litter on our school yard.

We have allocated roles in schoolwhich include: emptying the recylcing bins, turning off taps and lights and ensuring the computers are shut down. In the future, we also aim to develop our wildlife area and begin to look at nature.

We recently gained the Eco-Schools Silver Award
